Anambra 2025: APC Youths Warn Umahi Against Sabotaging Party’s Chances

South East APC Young Progressives Forum Condemns Umahi’s Remarks on Anambra Politics

The South East APC Young Progressives Forum has strongly criticized recent statements made by the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, regarding the political climate in Anambra State.

Speaking at a press conference in Anambra, Comrade Paschal Candle, National Convener of the Forum, expressed disappointment over Umahi’s remarks, which seemed to downplay the APC’s presence in the state while appearing to endorse Governor Charles Soludo of APGA.

The group took issue with Umahi’s comments during the flag-off of the 35km link roads to the Second Niger Bridge, a project initiated under the APC-led federal government. They argued that instead of focusing on the infrastructure development, Umahi’s remarks amounted to political sabotage at a crucial time when APC is preparing for the November 8, 2025, governorship election.

Describing the Minister’s statements as reckless and counterproductive, the Forum questioned whether Umahi would accept similar political gestures in his home state, Ebonyi. They called on him to clarify his stance and reaffirm his commitment to APC’s success in Anambra.

“We want to believe his words were just political flattery. But if Umahi truly meant them, then he should stay away from Anambra’s 2025 election,” Candle stated.

The Forum emphasized APC’s growing influence in Anambra, highlighting its presence across all 21 local government areas and 326 wards, positioning the party as a strong opposition to APGA.

Additionally, the group warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC’s leadership against falling for APGA’s sudden political alignment with the ruling party at the federal level. They accused APGA of previously demonizing APC, only to seek favor when elections approach.

“APGA cannot secure President Tinubu’s victory in Anambra better than an elected APC governor,” Candle asserted, challenging Soludo and APGA members to collapse their party structure into APC if they truly support Tinubu’s administration.

Despite Umahi’s remarks, the Forum reaffirmed APC’s strength in Anambra and expressed confidence in defeating APGA in the upcoming election.

“The APC is the party to beat in Anambra. The people are tired of Soludo’s authoritarian leadership, and the November 8 election will mark the beginning of a new era,” the group declared.

Concluding the press conference, the Forum delivered a strong message to Umahi: Clarify your position or stay out of Anambra politics.
