There was pandemonium in Owerri Imo state capital on Tuesday evening, as political thugs, believed to be sponsored, allegedly invaded Umuoyima town hall, venue of NDC meeting, descending upon the party members, leaving a trail of destruction and chaos.
Information available confirm that armed thugs numbering over 20 in a fully loaded bus arrived Umuoyima town hall, where NDC members were having their meeting and launched a severe attack on them.
According to eyewitness accounts, guns, knives, and other dangerous weapons were used by the invading thugs to attack the NDC members, where people sustained heavy injuries and property destroyed during the attack.
Though details of the incident are still sketchy, this newspaper gathered that the thugs destroyed chairs, public address system belonging to NDC members.
