BREAKING: Federal Government Begins Payment of N77,000 Allowance to Corps Members

The Federal Government has begun disbursing the N77,000 monthly allowance to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s announcement of the pay increase initially sparked excitement among corps members nationwide. However, delays in implementation led to frustration, as they continued receiving the previous N33,000 allowance for nearly six months after the announcement in September 2024.

A corps member, identified as TOBILOBA, confirmed the development to Boldmedia.ng, stating that the payment has started and calling the increase “long overdue.”

Reports suggest the disbursement may be occurring in batches, as some corps members have received the new allowance while others are still awaiting payment.

Reactions have surfaced on social media following the assurance from the Minister of Youths that backlogs would be cleared. Users have shared their thoughts, with some confirming receipt of the payment and others noting the contrast in public reaction compared to previous outcry over delays.
