Nigeria Becomes Largest Market for U.S. Wines in Africa, Imports Reach $7.8 Million in 2024
Nigeria has emerged as the largest market for U.S. wines in Africa, with exports valued at $7.8 million in 2024, marking a 65% increase from the previous year.
This was revealed in Lagos by JoEllen Gorg, Acting U.S. Consul General, who highlighted the Foreign Agricultural Service of the U.S. Mission’s efforts in expanding U.S.-Nigeria agricultural trade.
As part of these efforts, the Foreign Agricultural Service of the U.S. Mission, in partnership with the California Wine Institute, organized a trade promotion event in Lagos. The event connected 18 California wineries with the Nigerian business community, further strengthening agricultural trade ties between both nations.
