Peter Obi Slams Tinubu’s Economic Track Record on National TV

Peter Obi Criticizes Tinubu’s Administration, Says It’s ‘Doing Well’ in a Negative Way
BOLD MEDIA — April 2, 2025

In a recent interview with AriseTV’s Charles Aniagolu, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi delivered a sharp critique of President Bola Tinubu’s two-year tenure, stating that the administration has indeed fulfilled its promise of continuity—but in a detrimental way.

Obi, known for his outspoken stance on governance, sarcastically remarked that Tinubu has been “doing well” by staying true to his commitment to continue from where the previous government left off.

“You know, Charles, I have always refrained from assessing this government because I have always been consistent in saying that he is doing well—because what he promised the people is exactly what he is doing,” Obi said. “He said he would start and continue from where the previous government stopped, and he is doing just that.”

Highlighting the country’s economic struggles, Obi pointed to key indicators such as the sharp depreciation of the naira, soaring fuel prices, and worsening unemployment rates.

“Somebody who met the dollar at ₦300-₦400, and now it’s ₦1,500—Charles, he has done fantastic,” he said sarcastically. “Same in fuel, same in everything—unemployment, democracy, everywhere. He is on the sliding side, and that is ‘doing well’ because that’s what he promised.”
